The Gay Head Lighthouse on Martha's Vineyard was moved 135 feet from the edge of an eroding cliff. the move began on May 28, 2015. The 400 ton, 52 foot tall lighthouse was lifted and moved along rails. It took 10 to 15 minutes to move the lighthouse 5 feet. Then the hydraulic jacks were reset and the lighthouse was moved again.
